To build a house we need an approved plot. One ground in Tamil Nadu,India is 60′X40′.How do you measure a plot?

One ground is 60 feet by 40 feet in Tamil Nadu.Or varies in Tamil Nadu too?
In India Real Estate terminology varies from State to State.
How it varies from Country to Country?

Dear 6000 Tamil,

One Ground means an extent of 2400 Sqft. in area. Even 30′X80′ plot also a one Ground Plot!

Ideal size is 60′X40′ generally to have a one ground plot to construct a convenient house. I think “GROUND 2400″ is followed in Chennai and neighbourhoods only and rest of Tamil nadu it is by cents! One cent is 436 Sqft.

In Andhra it is by Ankhana or Gunta and I don’t know the exact extent of these terms.

In countries like US (where land spread is almost three to four times more and the population is five times less comparing India) people construct houses in one acre land!

Measuring a plot is to measure the Length & Breadth and the calculate the area. If the plot is skew or irregular, you have to take assistance of Surveyor or Engineer or simply a man knows mathematics well!
