Real Estate license classes in nyc?

I am interested in taking the 2 week course to obtain my real estate license. What exam do I have to take? I heard all of this information from a friend who told me that you can take a 2 week or something class and as long as you pass the exam, you are a licensed real estate agent and can show and sell houses….is this true? I am very interested in doing this part-time( as like a second job). How do I go about this. I am in the New York area and would like to know if there are any classes (preferably manhattan or brooklyn) in the area. Thanx in advance

My darling, Benny will educate you:

U find a real estate school in nyc, which offers classes. You prep up and put in your state mandated hours. Once your hours are complete, you get a broker to sponsor you (which the scool can help you with)–then you schedule for the state exam. Once you pass the exam, you will then be officially licensed and ready to go.

–You need broker sponsorship b/c the state needs to make sure that you’re being guided by a pro who knows all the in and outs of the industry/ the laws etc

Just make sure that the school you prep up at is legit—u can do check the status on the school by going to nyc.gov license division.

There are several good schools in the city…I will email you info on some of the better n more flexible ones…

Just one small piece of advice on the industry—really study the laws and make sure that you have a good broker. Theres so many laws and little technical stuff, so make sure you on top of your game.
